Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Are you skilled?

Need the paperwork to prove it?

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) could be the answer for you!

What is Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)?

Recognition of Prior Learning is one way that you can have your current skills and knowledge assessed by a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), to see if they meet today’s industry standards.

RPL Assessments recognises your skills and knowledge, no matter how, when or where your learning occurred.

RPL could provide you with a full or part qualification. It could also be used to identify what training you may need to complete your full qualification.

At BEAUTYPLUS, RPL is carried out in strict accordance with:

  • Principles of Assessment: fairness, flexibility, validity, reliability.
  • Rules of Evidence: validity, sufficiency, authenticity, currency.

This means that all evidence you submit must be:

  • Valid – directly related to the skills and knowledge being assessed.
  • Sufficient – enough to demonstrate competence across all requirements.
  • Authentic – your own work, not produced by others.
  • Current – reflecting skills and knowledge you can demonstrate now, not in the distant past.

By following these standards, BEAUTYPLUS ensures that every RPL outcome is consistent, fair, and in line with the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).

You may be eligible for a qualification and not realise it.

Have you gained knowledge and skills through your work, life experiences, training or education?

Even if you have never formally studied or trained in a particular area, you may be able to have your skills formally recognised.

Are you a candidate for Recognition of Prior Learning?

The RPL process could suit you if you have:

  • Work skills and knowledge
  • Paid or unpaid work experience
  • Relevant life experience
  • Community work experience.

What are the benefits of formal recognition?

Formal recognition of your skills could help you with:

  • Beauty Services: facials, skincare, lash & brow services, makeup.
  • Laser Therapy: laser & IPL safety & hair removals and photo rejuvenation services.
  • Nail Artistry: manicure, pedicure and electrical file use in nail salon.

If necessary, you may be asked to complete:

  • A practical demonstration.
  • An interview.
  • Additional tasks to confirm competence.

     6. Gap Training (if required)

If your evidence shows you are competent in most but not all areas, gap training will be available.
This is targeted only at areas where further learning is needed, ensuring efficiency without lowering standards.

     7. Decision & Outcome

  • Successful applicants receive credit for relevant units and a nationally recognised qualification.
  • If additional evidence or work is needed, you will receive feedback and support.
